Later Heaven directions: Zhen east, Li south, Dui west, Kan north
The usual Later Heaven directions are: Zhen—east; Xun—southeast; Li—south; Kun—southwest; Dui—west; Qian—northwest; Kan—north; Gen—northeast. This arrangement is commonly linked to descriptions of trigram directions and their sequence in the Zhouyi, Discussion of the Trigrams (Shuo Gua), and is also called the King Wen arrangement.
Do not combine Earlier Heaven and Later Heaven directions into one table. For example, “Qian south” belongs to the usual Earlier Heaven scheme, while “Qian northwest” belongs to Later Heaven. Also check which way north and south face in a diagram. Patterns and cultural explanations should name the system; a directional diagram is not a scientific guarantee of real-world outcomes.
Introductory cultural reference, not personal fortune-telling, medical or investment advice. Symbolism expresses a wish, not a guaranteed effect.
