The generating cycle of the five phases

The usual generating cycle is: wood generates fire → fire generates earth → earth generates metal → metal generates water → water generates wood. It forms a continuous cycle.

“Generating” describes relationships of nourishment or support within this traditional model. Everyday examples such as burning wood producing fire can help with memory, but they are analogies, not a complete account of modern physical or chemical reactions. Study this cycle alongside the overcoming cycle and within its particular context. Calling an object “metal” and a person “water” does not establish that wearing that object will bring wealth or health benefits.
