Dui ☱: two yang lines below yin; the image of a lake
Dui is the trigram ☱. From bottom to top its lines are yang, yang, yin. The lower two lines are solid and the top line is broken. Do not confuse it with Xun, which has yin below two yang lines. Its traditional image is a lake or marsh, and its quality is often described as joy.
In the usual Later Heaven arrangement, Dui is west. In the Earlier Heaven system transmitted by Shao Yong in the Song dynasty, it is southeast. Images of a lake and joy can help explain the classics and decorative patterns. They cannot guarantee that wearing a pattern will improve relationships or bring happy events.
